A short visual guide to vertical slices, horizontal sections, and level curves for Vector Calculus I (MAT235H1).
What the animation shows
A plane, a paraboloid, and an upper cone are shown as 3D surfaces, cross-sections, and contour maps. Vertical slices fix an input; horizontal sections fix a height. The final comparison shows how equal steps in height produce different contour spacing for the paraboloid and the cone.
